SimCity *Finally* Available on Mac

Mac gamers (they exists, right?) rejoice! SimCity is finally available on Mac, after months of speculation and delays. Installing it requires that Origin for Mac is installed and you have a valid Origin account. Mac OSX 10.7.5 (Lion) and an Intel Core 2 processor are required to meet the minimum system specs.

If you’ve already purchased SimCity for Windows, you can grab the Mac version for free. Reports on the SimCity subreddit suggest that gameplay performance on the Mac version of SimCity is inferior to the Windows edition. This has been attributed to lower quality graphics drivers for Mac computers.

From what Ive seen on YouTube, the windows version does good. I play on a factory model Macbook Pro (no upgrades at all) and I have never experienced any problems, even playing on full settings…

    Inferior? Thats BS.

    • I’ve been playing on both Mac and Windows. I agree that the gameplay performance isn’t as bad as Reddit describes, but the graphics quality between the editions is immense. If you have the opportunity, play the game on a Windows PC of equivalent value to your Mac. You’ll be surprised at how much more detailed the simulation is.
